Our goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of the year to help State Parks fund this undertaking.
WHAT IS A LONG-TERM STABILIZATION PLAN?
A Long-Term Stabilization Plan (LTSP) IS NOT a thrown together list of buildings that look like they need work.
It IS a gathering of all involved parties (Maintenance Workers in Bodie, Garavaglia Architecture Firm, Linchpin Engineering, California State Parks Cultural Resources staff and Bodie Foundation staff and board), and resources – all documents regarding previous stabilization work, photo documentation of work, and inspection of Bodie’s buildings to shape a new MAJOR Stabilization effort for the next decade.
This is something we at the Foundation have been pushing State Parks to do for years, so we are more than excited to help fund this comprehensive project!
The Bodie Foundation gave $100,000 to support completion of the Long-Term Stabilization and Maintenance Plan for Bodie. Garavaglia Architecture has completed a detailed survey of 29 buildings representing a range of construction types, materials, and conditions, and is now in the data analysis phase preparing recommendations. The final report will help State Parks identify stabilization priorities, guide maintenance and repair decisions, and strengthen future funding efforts to support Bodie over the next decade.
