The 2026 season is quickly approaching

Recently, news spread quickly albeit somewhat prematurely that CA Hwy 270 (aka the Bodie Rd) had opened. We received Facebook messages and phone calls with inquiries as well as personal experiences. We tried to get ahead of anyone’s disappointments and share on social media that work was still being done on the dirt portion of the road. As of this writing, work continues and closures still exist on the dirt portion, Cottonwood Canyon (dirt road from CA Hwy 167) is open to the parking lot, however only 4-wheel drive vehicles are recommended. Work is underway to make the upcoming season a memorable one for both frequent visitors and first timers. New Bodie swag is being designed, photo workshops and tours are being booked and a memorable Friends of Bodie Fest is being developed. Work on the church will begin in the coming months and we hope that by Fall it will be standing completely upright, no longer leaning as it has for the last several years. Our long anticipated Long-Term Maintenance Plan will soon be finalized, and steps will be taken to implement it across all Bodie structures. Soon we will launch a new fundraising campaign, Keep Bodie Standing, we encourage all to join us and share will others the incredible work of ensuring Bodie continues to exist for generations to come.
