Parks We Support

We support other parks too...

The Bodie Foundation also supports two other California State Parks in the High Sierra region: Grover Hot Springs and Mono Lake Tufa Natural Reserve.

Donations made to these parks through the Bodie Foundation are earmarked as "restricted funds", meaning that those donations will only be used to support that park.

California State Parks

Grover Hot Springs State Park

Grover Hot Springs State Park is located on the east side of the Sierra at the edge of the Great Basin Province, characterized by open pine forest, and sagebrush and meadows. The park has a pool complex with a hot pool and a swimming pool hot springs, a campground, picnic area and hiking trails.

California State Parks

Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve

Mono Lake is a majestic body of water covering about 65 square miles. It is an ancient lake, over 1 million years old -- one of the oldest lakes in North America. It has no outlet.

Throughout its long existence, salts and minerals have washed into the lake from Eastern Sierra streams. Freshwater evaporating from the lake each year has left the salts and minerals behind so that the lake is now about 2 1/2 times as salty and 80 times as alkaline as the ocean.
