About Bodie Foundation
Who is the Bodie Foundation? We're a group of Bodie enthusiasts who raise money through planned capital campaigns for both general and specific projects. The Bodie Foundation does not operate inside the Park, but donates money and other resources directly to or on behalf of Bodie State Historic Park. We keep our operating expenses to a minimum through the dedication of an all-volunteer staff so that nearly all of the funds raised can directly support Bodie projects. Our Board Officers President: Kent Adams More than 40 years experience in marketing, community relations, sales and nonprofits, as an executive director, board member, and development consultant. Currently account executive & marketing projects specialist for TV station in Spokane, WA. First of the dozens of Bodie visits was as a (Los Angeles) YMCA camper in 1960; participant in two professional Bodie photo workshops. Vice President: Brad Sturdivant 25+ years working with nonprofit and community organizations, including helping to start Friends of Bodie, a subchapter of the Sierra State Parks Foundation, Board of Directors Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, and private business owner for ten years. Retired after 34 years with California State Parks, 21 years as Supervising Ranger/Superintendent of Bodie State Historic Park, Mono Lake Tufa State Reserve and Grover Hot Springs State Park. Treasurer: Nancy Frye Mono County resident for 28 years. Has taught Special Needs Children in Mono County for over 15 years. Active as President and Treasurer for local Service Group. Member PTO and Boosters. First worked in Bodie in 1973, duties included interpretation and artifact cataloging as a park aide over the course of eight summers. Member Friends of Bodie and Bodie Historical Fire Company. Secretary: Dave Tavres Expert in the Internet and Software industry since 1994. First attained volunteer training at Bodie in 1993; has run Bodie.com website since 1994; ran technical consulting, training and website development since 1998. Currently serves on three other nonprofit boards and various committees. Our Mission The Bodie Foundation has evolved from a dedicated group of "modern-day Bodieites" who are concerned about Bodie's future. Our mission is to assist California State Parks with the preservation of Bodie State Historic Park, with specific emphasis on raising funds to assist with stabilization of structures, conservation of artifacts and continued protection of resources.
